THIRD FOOT (ADELAIDE) proudly offers Adelaide's most progressive Dance programme for Junior Schools (R-6).
 
1-class, 3-class, 5-class and 10-class programmes are available.
 
Through 10 weekly 1-hour classes, THIRD FOOT (ADELAIDE) teaches:
 
  • Rhythms, using the fun, interactive Universal Unit System (R) and rhyme
  • Coordination (including skipping) - proved to enhance academic performance - through Games and Motion Studies
  • The "building blocks" of music: Time Signatures, Notes (Quarter-Notes/Crotchets), Counts (Rolling Count), Beats (Downbeats versus Upbeats), Units, Measures (Heavy Measures versus Light Measures), Mini-Phrases, Minor Phrases and Major Phrases, and how to recognise and accent them
  • How to "Walk Like a Dancer" rather than "ambulating forward"
  • The basic Rhythm Patterns and Floor Patterns of Level 1 and Level 2 Social Dances including Niteclub Foxtrot, Modern Jive, Salsa, Box Rumba and American Tango
 
Additionally, Grades 4-6 learn:

Learning Outcomes:
 
In addition to the Dance skills acquired, students learn life skills, including (but not limited to) discipline, trust in self and others, respect of self and others, teamwork, self-confidence, assertiveness and the art of effective, sensitive communication and compromise. THIRD FOOT (ADELAIDE)'s Dance Programme also exercises both the body and the mind, improving physical and mental fitness; particularly developing left-right coordination, which enhances academic performance.
