Chairobics is a low-impact form of exercise incorporating stretch and meditation performed to music from the comfort of a chair or wheel-chair. It caters to all physical abilities and is both fun and beneficial.
Inspired by 85 year old Skippy BLAIR, NATIONAL DANCE DIRECTOR, GOLDEN STATE DANCE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (G.S.D.T.A.) (U.S.A.), Chairobics was tailored for people with limited strength, mobility, flexibility and/or coordination (particularly the elderly and those with physical and/or intellectual handicaps). THIRD FOOT (ADELAIDE)'s Chairobics Programme exercises both the body and the mind, improving physical and mental fitness; particularly developing left-right coordination, and gently exercising, strengthening and stretching key muscles to improve mobility, carriage, flexibility and posture.
Chairobics incorporates practical exercises to help elderly people maintain their drivers licence and their independence.
THIRD FOOT (ADELAIDE) is NOW SCHEDULING Dance and Chairobics Classes in Special Schools, Fitness, Rec. and Arts Centres and Nursing Homes for 2010. Register now.
